Enniskillen Castle
Enniskillen Castle is a historic (Enniskillen, County Fermanagh) now houses the Fermanagh County Museum and a museum dedicated to the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards and Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.
The castle was founded in the 15th century by Hugh Maguire and has played a significant role in the region's history. It was besieged multiple times and underwent various remodels, including the addition of the iconic Watergate in 1609. The castle's design features strong Scottish influences, particularly seen in the Watergate's corbelled circular tourelles.
Today, visitors can explore six buildings within the castle grounds, enjoy stunning views of the historic island town of Enniskillen, and learn about the area's history, culture, and natural history through various exhibits.
